Joyful Movement is a great way to stay healthy and strong. But it can be intimidating especially if you’re new to fitness or coming back from an injury. It’s important to remember that everyone is welcome in the gym! No matter your age, size, or background, there’s something out there that will work for you. Here are some tips on getting started with exercise.

Set Realistic Goals

When setting goals, make sure they are realistic and achievable. This means taking into account your current physical condition and starting slowly. Don’t try to lift heavy weights right away if you’re not used to exercise. Start with low-impact activities like walking or swimming and gradually increase the intensity of your workouts as you get stronger. Also, give yourself plenty of time to adjust to any new routines.

Find Something You Enjoy

It can be difficult to stick with a movement routine if you don’t enjoy it, so find something that you actually enjoy doing! If running isn’t your thing, maybe dancing or yoga is more up your alley? There are so many types of options out there that it shouldn’t be hard to find something that fits your interests and lifestyle. Additionally, group classes can help keep you motivated since you have people around who are going through the same experience as you!

Find an Accountability Partner

Having someone else who is also trying to reach a fitness goal can really help keep both of you accountable. Whether it’s a friend or family member who works out with you or just someone who checks in regularly on how your progress is going—having someone else involved makes it easier to stay motivated and hold yourself accountable for results.

Movement can be intimidating at first but it doesn’t have to be! Everyone should feel comfortable in the gym no matter their age, size, or background—there are tons of different exercises out there for everyone! Start small by setting realistic goals and gradually increase the intensity as you get stronger and more comfortable with exercise routines over time. Finally find an accountability partner (or several!) who will help keep you motivated along the way! With these tips in mind anyone can start their journey towards better physical health today!  Good luck!
