For women entering menopause, fat positive movement can provide much needed support during this transitional period. One benefit is finding community; having like-minded people who understand what you are going through can make all the difference when coping with the physical and emotional changes that come with menopause. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to engage in physical activity without fear of judgment or unrealistic expectations—you can move your body for fun instead of for weight loss or performance goals. Finally, it allows individuals to explore new activities such as yoga or dance which can be incredibly beneficial both mentally and physically during menopause.

There are many ways to get involved in fat positive movement such as joining online forums where members talk openly about their experiences and support one another; attending events hosted by organizations such as My JAMM which celebrates strong women at any size; participating in sports programs specifically designed for larger individuals; and seeking out clothing brands that cater specifically to plus-sized bodies such as Superfit Hero, Universal Standard, Monif C., etc.. There are also classes available on YouTube from instructors like Lizzo who provide upbeat workouts tailored specifically toward larger bodies. The list goes on! With so many options available, there truly is something for everyone interested in getting involved in fat positive movement during menopause.

Menopause doesn’t have to be a difficult time — it can be an opportunity for growth and joy! Through the fat positive movement, you can find community, build strength, explore new activities, and ultimately find joy at any size or age. So why not give it a try?
